FLO Commends the Ontario Government and Ontario Energy Board for Investigating a New Electric Vehicle Charger Discount Electricity Rate 

Toronto –  FLO, a leading North American electric vehicle (EV) charging company and a smart charging solutions provider, commends the Ontario government for its commitment to helping increase EV adoption by investigating options for a new Electric Vehicle Charger Discount Electricity Rate.   

This proposed new rate for EV charging will help support the adoption of EVs in Ontario, and further ensure that the province is able to meet the needs of its EV drivers by reducing the cost of electricity in areas where EV charging demand is only beginning to emerge.   

“Implementing a policy like the Electric Vehicle Charger Discount Electricity Rate will ensure that EV drivers have access to the charging infrastructure they need to get where they are going. This will help reduce range anxiety for EV drivers across the province,” said Louis Tremblay, President and CEO of FLO. “It is a crucial step in increasing options for drivers in rural and northern areas, where access to EV chargers can be less consistent.”   

FLO is hoping to leverage this new rate with other programs like the recently announced Electric Vehicle Charging Procedure (EVCCP) and the province’s ChargeON program, which has dedicated $91 million to support the installation of public EV chargers outside of Ontario’s large urban centres.   

“Local distribution companies (LDC) are crucial for implementing changes like this new rate. FLO greatly values the work of LDCs in accelerating the roll out of a reliable charging network for Ontarians.” added Tremblay. “We are confident this new rate will enhance driver confidence and increase EV adoption.”
