FLO’s NYC Curbside Charging Program Recognized with E-Mobility Award 

NEW YORK —  FLO, a leading North American electric vehicle (EV) charging network operator and smart charging solutions provider, was recognized with the Outstanding Demo Partnership award at the recent 2024 E-Mobility Awards by Consolidated Edison (Con Ed). FLO was honored for its work on New York’s public curbside charging project, which installed, monitors and maintains 120 public and private charging stations throughout the city’s 5 boroughs. 

“We nominated FLO for the excellent efforts in deploying and maintaining this first of its kind curbside charging network,” said Roy Rada, Manager – E-Mobility Demonstration Projects for Con Ed. “These chargers are highly utilized by the residents of the local neighborhoods and provide a critical service for EV drivers in the city.”  

The curbside charging program was launched by the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), Con Ed and  FLO and includes Level 2 charging stations strategically located throughout the city.  

The successful program has seen utilization dramatically increase since the program began from 27% in 2022 to almost 64% this year. Uptime of the chargers is more than 99%, which means the chargers are operational when drivers need to charge.   

“These charging stations are in use almost 16 hours a day and are among the most used chargers on our network” said Martin Brière, FLO’s Chief Network and Experience Officer. “We are grateful to our partners at ConEd for this award and their unwavering support.”  

EV adoption in New York City has grown rapidly in recent years. The New York City DOT has set ambitious targets for vehicle electrification to meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. As per the Electrifying New York report, by 2030, the city will need over 40,000 publicly accessible Level 2 chargers to meet the projected demand of the nearly 400,000 EVs expected to be registered in the city.
